Chip, CH Kasomor's Chip's Ahoy By Labrisa PCD RN, came to us from breeder Laura Hamilton who owns both Chip's sire and dam. Iko, Am/Can/NSDTRC-US CH Westerlea's Hey Now AKC MH, US/Can WCX, AKC CDX, Can CD was from our first litter, whelped and raised here. Iko's  mother is our girl Trio, CH Westerlea's Kasomor Trio SH WCX CDX.  We also had the pleasure of having Chip's dam, Ena, CH Manitou's Fire Away CD, stay with us as a young dog for training and completion of her Championship. It is lovely having a Trio grandson just around the corner and watching him grow up.

 

I co-own Chip” with Sarah and Lorill Britz. Sarah is a Junior Handler who has been an active, enthusiastic member of the Chilliwack 4-H Dog Club since 2010. She decided to get involved competing in CKC dog shows with a registered dog… which is why a toller ended up in her home!

 

Sarah continues to compete in both CKC and 4-H. Since Sarah is a 4-H Member all training, showing and care of Chip, since shortly after he arrived here at 9 weeks old, is her responsibility. This is a hard 4-H rule to follow but one that Sarah takes on with a great deal of maturity. The bond they have has certainly paid off in all the success she is having with Chip!!

 

In 4-H they compete in Showmanship, Obedience, Rally-O, and Agility, so Chip gets a lot of experience training for many different things to challenge him and push him to his full potential.

 

So far he has proven to be an incredibly smart and biddable little dog with admirable focus and accuracy. Chip is always excited to get to work and so disappointed when it isn’t his turn. He is a natural retriever. He is also a strong (and VERY enthusiastic!) swimmer.

Between 4-H competitions and dog shows, there is a lot of training going on during which Chip always impresses. He is already working on Open skills and does really well in his off leash agility training.
 

4-H Dog competitions take place at Fairs – very challenging, sniffy environments where there are non-stop noisy chickens, goats, cows, llamas, and rabbits just a few meters away, not to mention the large amounts of spectators swarming past the ring (sometimes people lean right over the fence to see!). In some cases, there have even been remnants of livestock droppings left inside the ring. Even with all that going on around him, Chip and Sarah won Champion for Beginner Novice Obedience at the Chilliwack Fair in both 2014 AND 2015, and took Reserve Champion for Senior Obedience at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) for 2015. The PNE has the most challenging distractions of all the Fairs. In addition, in 2014, he won Champion Puppy Agility at the Agassiz Fall Fair and he took Reserve Champion Large Dog Agility at the PNE for 2015.

As for CKC events, Chip and Sarah have already finished both his Rally Novice AND his Pre-Novice Obedience titles. He won High Qualifying Score in Class in his very first time in the CKC Rally ring when he was just 16 months old! Chip and Sarah earn Chip's Rally Intermediate title, with a perfect 100 score for his last leg, in March 2016! 

 

Chip has been shown very little as Sarah is one busy young lady! His conformation show record to date consists of; Winners Male and Best of Winners at just shy of two years of age, earning himself his first FOUR points over an entry of 12! This was followed closely by going Winners Male and Best of Winners in Merritt, B.C., for an additional two points. At the 2015 Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club Of Canada National Specialty, Chip won the Open Male Class over some other very nice boys!

 

Chip completed his CHAMPION title in November, 2015, going Winners Male and then Best Of Winners over a very competitive entry of 16 tollers for 5 points!! 

 

Of course, Sarah has been at the other end of the leash in all venues.

 

 

Chip has grown into a very handsome dog.

 

He fits the breed type to a T.  He has a simply gorgeous head, level top line, strong bone and substance and moves cleanly. He stands 20" tall and weighs 48 lbs.

 

His temperament is rock solid stable as well. Typical happy go lucky, extremely biddable and always looking for an ear rub. He loves to swim. While he likely will not be tested in the field, he is a natural and avid duck retriever!

 

Chip is a proven sire.
